A recent conversation on The Bobby Bones Show turned to medication use, exploring both prescription and over-the-counter treatments and how frequently people rely on them.

Eddie revealed he hadn’t taken any prescription medication recently, aside from a brief course of antibiotics for a sinus infection a few months ago. Amy shared that she is completely drug-free, while others in the group had varying routines. Lunchbox mentioned he had not taken his usual prescription in the past week, explaining he needed to get a refill from the pharmacy but had forgotten. Bobby shared that he takes Meloxicam for ankle inflammation and occasionally uses Unisom once a week to manage sleep issues. He noted the importance of moderation, as taking it more frequently could create dependence and disrupt natural sleep patterns.

The conversation also covered over-the-counter options for sleep. Unisom, a common sleep aid, was discussed for its effectiveness, though some noted lingering grogginess after use. Melatonin was mentioned as an alternative, but not all found it effective. Bobby shared his personal experiences with how his bodies reacted to these aids and the mental challenges of managing sleep without relying too heavily on medication. He reflected on past seasons of life when multiple prescriptions were taken daily, gradually tapering off to fewer medications.

The show also highlighted the three most common over-the-counter medications used consistently over decades: aspirin, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen. Seasonal treatments, such as Zyrtec for allergies, were included as well.
