Chris Janson teams up with Dwayne âThe Rockâ Johnson in the outdoorsy music video for his ârowdyâ single, âWhatcha See Is Whatcha Get,â which premiered on Friday morning (April 19). The duo âspend an afternoon in the deer stand, muddinâ in a vintage Ford pick-up and enjoying some good olâ Southern boy downtime,â reads a press release issued Friday to announce the videoâs debut.
Janson said filming was âtons of genuine, real fun,â and from Tennessee to Texas, âwe made it happen. Canât thank DJ enough for starring in it, and for being a great friend to me.â
The Rock hailed Janson âa good, kind hearted man who works his butt off to take care of his family and take care of his fans,â he wrote in a caption on Instagram as he teased the music video on Thursday (April 18). He also posted a clip from the video set, noting that he and Janson both âhad big country music dreams. One of us - thank God - goes on to become a big country music star and the other one goes on to become famous only for rocking a fanny pack and for singing in keys that donât exist. Love ya brother and cheers to hard work and dreams that come true and an even bigger cheers to the dreams that donât.â
âWe bonded very quickly in a parking lot waiting for our cars to pull around â talking about one of our favorite country songs, âThe Blues Man,â from Hank Jr, and talking about the [Grand Ole Opry] and how we both were hanging out on lower (Broadway) in Nashville, looking for singing gigs, when I was 15 years old and he was in his 20âs sleeping in his car,â The Rock said in the press release issued Friday morning. âWhat really moved me in that parking lot was Chrisâ kindness, humility, and just wanting to work hard to take care of his family. We both love country music, both love to fish, and both love to entertain and take care of our fans. Add a big shot of fun to the mix and all that made us fast friends and Iâm pumped to be a part of his video, 'What You See Is What You Get.'â
Janson released âWhatcha See Is Whatcha Getâ on March 8, following his televised performance at Dolly Partonâs Pet Gala, and his performance at the 2024 Country Radio Seminar (CRS) in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. teamed up with Tyler Hubbard, RaeLynn, Blake Hubbard and Jarrod Ingram to write the track, which was produced by Julian Raymond, according to a previously-issued press release. Janson said in a statement at that time that âthis song is 100% authentic, every word. Itâs fun, itâs rowdy and itâs the truth. Roll your window down and crank it up!â
